Despite all these stability updates Nintendo's hardware isn't very stable

    All of Nintendo's hardware is hackable. The Wii, Wii U, 3DS and (soon) Switch are all hackable. All firmware versions are hackable and only the 3DS actually requires you to purchase hardware specifically to hack it.

    Those aren't "stability" updates, though. They patch exploits, but they can only patch existing exploits and the ones they find themselves.
    The Wii is not patched, because they are not supporting it anymore. The Wii U ditto. The 3DS is regularly getting updates that patch stuff, but you need additional hardware to hack it on latest firmware, so it's not as accessible to everyone, thus not requiring an urgent patch. The Switch is regularly getting updates, which are patching exploits.
