'Death Stranding 2: On the Beach' gets PS5 release date and 10-minute trailer

During a special panel at this year’s SXSW, Kojima Productions aired a 10-minute trailer for Death Stranding 2: On the Beach.

The trailer revealed that the game will be available on June 26 on PS5, and that pre-orders will begin on March 17.

Also announced during the panel was an upcoming orchestral concert tour, DEATH STRANDING Strands of Harmony, happening later this year. This is also a collaboration between Kojima Productions and heritage horologists Hamilton for a limited-edition watch, modelled on the in-game timepiece worn by Neil in Death Stranding 2: On the Beach.

I like death stranding 1, but it was very long and honestly tedious at some parts especially before you can automate deliveries and setup roads.

I don't have the energy or time for the second one. I feel like the first one wrapped up perfectly too

It took a while to click but I eventually got hooked on the first game and really enjoyed it. Despite some cutscenes running too long and the story being batshit insane, it was a good time.

Looking forward to this one and hoping they can really expand on the gameplay ideas.

Loved the first one so much i have played through and 100% completed it multiple times. (Hard to name any game the last few generations to get that honor.) Can't wait for #2. And yeah haters going to hate but I will bet almost any game they name will fall into my do not play category 🤣

I'm one of the weirdos that really enjoyed Death Stranding.

I don't always need to rush to the end of games to feel satisfied; I really enjoyed the journeys, their ambiance, and the little moments along the way.

Death Stranding is like a hiking simulator in a beautiful scifi world and I totally get why people hate it, but I actually do want more.

If Konami were a Nintendo company they'd be taking kojima to court over the claims of copyright.

Guy with a bandana.

Robot looking rex head

Thank fuck we live in the real world, we see these as little funny easter eggs.

But tbf I tried a few times to get into the first game and it was rather annoying and seems second your still luggage hauling shit.

So be another no for me.

Third kojima game now to either get bored of or no interest in.

MGS5 was too repetitive
DS1 again, repetitive but lacking anything for me
DS2 seems to be same, but without playing 1, 2 will be pointless..

I really liked his artistic view on PT demo and its a shame because that could have turned into something good.

But I personally think that falling short and he felt he had to then keep up his agreement with his pals reedus and del torro.... then this game was born.

I just wish it wasn't so dull and boring and had more horror or action than just trying to get from A to B without constantly falling over hazards and having to backtrack to pick up shit you dropped.

I have mixed opinions on the first game, the story was mid for the most part and the gameplay was very simple walk from point a to point b but it has a few moments when some of the music played when traveling that were nice or when there was some pretty terrain but overall it was a 6/10 for me. Will probably pick up the 2nd one when a sale hits just for story closure.

Latest Switch 2 leak says it will have a LCD, not OLED, run most games 40fps max, and only be 1.5 tflops handheld, 3 tflops docked. That's less than the steamdeck at 1.71 handheld, 3.1 docked.

Switch 2 LCD is about like TN type compare to old Nintendo Switch LCD before. Also games running on 40 FPS look not good for us and people. 60 FPS are best for normal everyday gaming. That's weird. I think should not buy Switch 2 because it like Switch 1.5 something like that. Little improve but not major improve. I think going to skip it.

Yea that's just rumored but not sounding that impressive for a next gen upgrade. Of course Nintendo is very good at optimization of their games to play well, but for a $400+ 2025 console I expected a little better. Even a $299 2020 Xbox Series S has 4 tflops.

I thought it was supposed to be on par with an xbox 1 in power, why is it running most things at 40fps lol
  • Anrei @ Anrei:
in terms of power I thought it was a 2.0 compared to the switch man 40fps sounds whack is there poor optimisation or something?
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Just rumors/ leaks. We will find out in a few weeks. But yea prob way underpowered to save battery, for longer playtimes, like Switch 1 is.

Teraflops are not necessarily indicative of real world performance, especially when compared across different architectures. The Switch 2 will also be smaller/lighter than the Steam Deck so it's performance has to fit inside a much smaller thermal and power envelope. Using a 120hz VRR panel means 40 fps locks can be an option in handheld mode, which will be a noticeable upgrade over the current 30 fps standard on Switch 1. Games could also go uncapped and leverage VRR to keep things smooth.

Call me a filthy casual but I really don't notice the difference between the last few generations of consoles, and pushing specs just for the sake of bragging rights is really pointless.
