Now I know some threads here discuss death note. I got into it recently too. I just got to say that this manga/anime is messed up. I can't stand it for some reason... The protagonist is extreamly messed up. It's not the first time I've seen insane protagnoist like this in a manga. What has our world come to?

[IMG] I though L died in ep 25 and ep 26 has only just come out? How can you decide it's gone downhill since then?

    It's based on a manga.
It was a god damn train wreck after about the halfway point.
A real shame since the first half was so good.

Agreed! I made the mistake of starting to collect the manga paperbacks because it was so good... but as soon as near and mello are introduced the plot gets too confused and melodramatic... [IMG]

I've seen both those death note 'live' movies and they were.. well.. pretty crappy. People might enjoy them more if they haven't seen the anime and only read the manga.

When I first started to watch the anime, it felt godlike. It was so freaking good, but later on as the episodes went on. It felt getting poorer at a slight downhill scale. I've missed like the 4-5 latest episodes since I don't have the same urge I had for when it first started.

The anime is only slated for 37 episodes, which already detracts from making it the best it can be. When I first took a preview of the anime, I agree with Killermech - it was great representation of the manga because it encompasses the *dark* feel.

I really like the manga better though. It's dark, and it makes you think twice - is Light really the "protagonist?" Or is he only viewed as such because you see it from his point of view, and not L's? The acts he does are pretty evil as a whole [IMG]

The way events occur in Death Note make you think - how well can the series progress when the (spoiler above) happens? The pace slows down a lot.

The other anime that was airing that has a similar feel but in another way is CODE GEASS: Lelouch of the Rebellion. The main character (Lelouch) is the focus, but since it's a political war, is he really the protagonist since he's heading the rebellion or is it only because we're following his point of view?

I have no idea if Madhouse will be able to fit the 2nd half of the series in the remaining 11 episodes...

Although, I was satisfied with the manga, and I really hope Madhouse can make it as well done as episode 25.
