The WiiKey was one of the most popular drivechips around for the Nintendo Wii, helped on by the massive numbers of (fully-functioning) clones sold at amazingly cheap prices. Then, users were treated to a massive gap between firmware updates, which lost many supporters. Let's take a look at a handy little timeline!
6th April - WiiKey Config Disc 1.2 is released
29th April - WiiKey Team declare that clones are not the cause of the delay
20th May - WiiKey Team send out another delay message, saying that "development work always take time"
8th June - Review score for WiiKey is downgraded on GBAtemp
14th June - GBAtemp tells users not to buy it
21st July - Release candidate arrives at BETA testers
26th Sept. - WiiKey Config Disc 1.3 is released. WiiKey Team also officially support the BETA
1st Nov. - WiiKey Team release Super Mario Galaxy fix
That's a 5 months gap between firmware updates, however many users find that it does what they want, it plays Wii backups, and they're happy with that.
What do you think?
