Wikipedia said:
The Wii is the fifth home video game console released by Nintendo. The console is the direct successor to the Nintendo GameCube. Nintendo states that its console targets a broader demographic than that of Microsoft's Xbox 360 and Sony's PlayStation 3, but it competes with both as part of the seventh generation of video game systems.

A distinguishing feature of the console is its wireless controller, the Wii Remote, which can be used as a handheld pointing device and can detect acceleration in three dimensions. Another is WiiConnect24, which enables it to receive messages and updates over the Internet while in standby mode.

Nintendo first spoke of the console at the 2004 E3 press conference and later unveiled the system at the 2005 E3. Satoru Iwata revealed a prototype of the controller at the September 2005 Tokyo Game Show. At E3 2006, the console won the first of several awards. By December 8, 2006, it had completed its launch in four key markets. During the week of September 12, 2007, the Financial Times declared that the Wii was the current sales leader of its generation.
But what we're really interested in won't be on Wikipedia

The first Wii game Red Steel (U), was dumped on December 21st 2006 by Paradox. From then on, it was only a matter of time before a modchip was announced. At first, there were rumours and fakes, and then the first real Wii modchip, the Wiinja, was announced.
Since then, Nintendo has been using different chipsets, breaking legs and generally trying to drag those dirty pirates away from their freebies.

Nintendo promised that the Wii would be a Revolution, so do you think this revolution (as in, the Wii) beats the others?

Revolution my ass. Shake the wiimote instead of pressing a button is not a revolution. Few games make use of the motion sensing and do it well at the same time. lacklustre games, few quality titles, immense shovelware approved by nintendo, still weak third party quality support, only two notable nintendo titles for 2008 and you have yourself a big disappointment

voted middle ground

i queued up for it on release day and loved the thing for about 3 months. Then i moved house and i haven't used it since, in fact it's still in the box.

The games released have been disappointing.

This exactly.

Nintendo are riding on the hype at the moment and Wii Sports is still the best game that makes use of the motion controls IMO. Nintendo really need to pull their finger out and get some decent games out instead of all the mini-game bollocks and masses of shovelware. Galaxy was a good effort but it's just not enough, especially when it barely uses the Wii remote to its full functionality.

the wii has done more for getting gaming into the mainstream than any other system since pong. anything that can get my parent gaming right along with me is a good thing.

eh I have a Wii but IMO it is seriously over-hyped. Like many others have said, Wii Sports is the best game to see the motion sensing capabilities since all the other games it has seem to suck with the Motion Sensing. And it's fairly expensive...sure compared to the PS3 and the Xbox 360 it's pretty cheap.. But where's it's games? How come it's graphics aren't even as good as the original Xbox's? Nintendo cheaped out on the hardware.. Only 512MB internal memory? It's not like games from VC are small... That 512MB can fill fast with Games and Save files. For the hardware AND games it has ,the Wii is a bad bang for your buck imo. Right now The Xbox 360 with the most games and good hardware has the most bang for your buck, with the PS3 coming in 2nd and the Wii 3rd. Of course this is all my opinion.
