The GBA was released in Japan on March 21, 2001; in North America on June 11, 2001; in Australia on June 22, 2001, in Europe on June 22, 2001, and games (although mostly nasty shovelware titles) are still being released for it today.
There have been over 2800 releases to date, that's a lot.

The first GBA flashcart reviewed by GBAtemp was the X-ROM, reviewed by shaunj66 back in March 2004. That wasn't the first one to be released either, I think the Visoly Flash Advance Linker takes that position, and that was released much earlier.

The first GBA ROM to be released, number 0001, was F-Zero (J) which was dumped on 26/03/2001 (that's in the proper date format by the way

) which was dumped by Independent, then later, on the 18/05/2001, the first English ROM was dumped, Super Mario Advance (0025) by Eurasia.

I'm sure I don't need to explain much more, except for one thing; Today's Advent Calendar is slightly different. The question today is "Do you still enjoy your GBA?"

And I'm talking about the games (mostly), not really the system

I love the GBA. Ahh the memories

It had one of the best library of games ever. I still play some of them. Golden Sun, Tactics Ogre, Aria of Sorrow, Mario Tennis, Advance Wars...

Yep, I still play it (

Nothing against a quick game of GTA Advance, KH, or Payback, and if I feel like playing longer then I'll play a bit of Golden Sun. I loved how the GBA got MUCH 3D Games even though it was a very weak platform.

Library indeed. It had a proper wrestling game on launch day, yet DS took nearly 3 years to have one anywhere in the world.

There's still no GTA or Fire Emblem out for DS either.

It got more first person shooters too. Good or not... GBA had Serious Sam, Doom, Doom II, Wolfenstein, Duke Nukem, etc.

The GBA OWNED. It came out on my birthday (June 11) in America, and I remember getting it the first day as a gift. I got Super Mario Advance and this guidebook thing with walkthroughs for the five best launch games (Super Mario, Rayman, F-Zero, Castlevania, and one other game...) plus all the cases and accessories, etc.

Apparently Nintendo really likes my birthday, because 5 years later they released the DS Lite on my birthday (June 11, 2006).
