So I just downloaded Pineapple Express via torrent, I tried to play the .avi in VLC media player, and it says I need the VLC converter to convert the file. Problem is, outside of Britian, you have to pay, and I don't wanna. Is there any way to get the VLC converter for free OR is there any simlar FREE applications?

Install CCCP, and use the Media Player Classic that comes with it.

But you probably got a fake torrent. I would say 99% chance you didn't download what you intended.

CCCP is a codec pack which will play just about everything, and include MPC (media player classic) which uses those external codecs to render video. Usually better output quality than VLC, in my experience.

    Combined Community Codec Pack.
Use the Media Player Classic that comes with it.

No, it's just a converter. I dont know what the quality is like for High quality files, because I only use it with Youtube clips.

Yup, sounds like a fake. Especially if it's asking you to buy a ~VLC Converter~ that I've never seen listed on the VLC site. VLC is also meant to be free.
