Hacking D3-2 Drive and gamecube backups.

I was wondering if my wii can play backed up gamecube games with this drive, thanks.

Nope. It can't read burned discs at all, and there is no software only way to load GC from USB.

There are some hardware solutions but a softmod simply cannot do it, and probably will never be able to.

Yeah, you'll have to get a different DVD Drive before you can get any burned Wii or GC discs to load.

But once you get a different drive, follow a softmod guide and you should be fine.

Thats exactly what i was going to do. Switching the drive to a old drive ^^

is it enough to just replace the motherboard of the drive? as iv seen D2C motherboards for like £15 anyone know?

Nope it has to be the whole dvd drive.
