Not unimportant to mention is the fact that the CycloWiz CAN be flashed with WiiFree if you want to (via the PC flash application).

Maybe some things need to be looked at again [IMG]

Cause Cyclops team has gone also open source since yesterday [IMG]

You can choose between there code or WiiFree code now.

Works perfect, i did the upgrade to WiiFree open source on the CycloWiz
Use the included PC program to make the right ISO, burn and upgrade like
you normally upgrade your CycloWiz through DVD

    Cyclowiz upgrade with WiiFree movie

I posted about it in the Wii Hacking Topic

Scoring overhaul? Will this be for all your reviews or just this and for the future?

    Nice review.

Hey, the review is up! Congrats Dirtie on overcoming the situation and I see that in the end you did blow some cash on a VC game. A choice one at that!

That was probably the best review I've read here on GBATemp (considering I've only been a member for a short time). I really appreciate the fact that you documented the troubles you encountered during the install. It certainly helps to read about the experiences the average Joe might have when trying to DIY.

At this stage, it still seems like more trouble than it's worth. I definitely don't like the idea of a switch sticking out of the Wii, one which can so easily be turned out. That's a feature that I predict Team Cyclops will soon find is something they'll want to change.

Anyway, again, nice job. I hope one day we'll have a Wii solution that is a plug & play-type option. It doesn't hurt to hope [IMG] .

You could always put a mercury switch in it and when you want to update the firmware turn the Wii on its side. Mercury Switch

Great review. And let that be a lesson; strip your wires BEFORE you solder them [IMG]

This is the best review written by Dirtie to date. Great job, man. I'm glad you finally got your chip working after some slight hassles along the way. [IMG]

This will affect all GBAtemp reviews past (at least I think so [IMG]), present, and future.

    Good Job, Dirtie.
This means I should start considering sending my wii to Shop.01media.com so they chip the hell out of it...

edit: omg, omg, omg I can't find any reseller with Cyclowiz V3

If you read my review closely, you'd see that none of the CycloWiz chips that ship are pre-upgraded, because the upgrade flashes slightly different code depending on your drive revision.

If the switch is really a big deal, you can make a PC flasher cable, solder it to the appropriate points, flash your chip from your PC, then unsolder it again. Or ask the place you're buying from to do it.

Yeah, I saw that. So, I buy like, the chip available and send it to the guys to install it and make the switch and then I upgrade it as shown on the vid?

If that's what you want to do, then yup.
