'Crysis 4' announced

Following an apparent leak from Crytek China, Crytek took to Twitter to confirm that it is working on the next installment of its iconic Crysis series. The announcement also featured a teaser trailer which you can see below:

Not much can be seen in terms of gameplay and it just seems to confirm the existence of the next Crysis game. Indeed, in a blog post following the announcement, Crytek CEO Avni Yerli said: "It’s something you have been asking us for a long time, so it’s now finally time to confirm – yes, the next Crysis game is happening!"

Yerli also mentioned that the game is in the early stages of development and that it will be "a while" before they share more details. "ut we wanted to bring you the news at this time as we are so hyped for the future, and to let you know that we will be listening to our community," says the CEO.

All I know about this franchise is that it used to be resource intensive.
Is that still the case?
Not really, Crysis 2 and 3 were some of the more demanding games for their time, but only the first Crysis game took like ten years of PC hardware improvements to catch up to. Some of that was poor optimization, but the game did look absolutely gorgeous for 2007.

Crysis was of course the fame

Crysis 2 tried to flex nvidia's tesselation performance as it performs better than AMD at it, as Crysis 2 overly tesselated models throughout the game, causing AMD gpu performance to suffer without tweaking it in graphics driver settings.

Crysis 3 i don't recall, added anything significant

>claims Crysis is bland with no plot
>has obviously never played a Crysis game in his life
I know, right? Halo: Combat Evolved (single player) on PC was what I consider a bland shooter. And the enemies being bullet sponges with no knockback when you shoot them just made matters worse. The backtracking was a bit annoying too. But overall, a very bland shooter. I still don't get the Halo hype.

"Crysis doesn't have a bland story, Halo does."

Anyone try Duckhunt?

(Spoiler: The dog is your dad, you sonofabitch.)

They missed a great opportunity to make Crysis 4 a pixel art game.
You mean unnecessarily demanding to carry out the legacy.

The original pc release was so bad that the devs threw a tantrum because EA of all people, wanted them to spend more than 20 seconds optimizing it so that more than 0.000000000000000000000001% of the planet could actually run the game. You have to be a special kind of stupid to be so bad at your job to make EA look like the good guy, ever.

And Crytek developed an ego that could rival Brock Lesnar for it, acting as if they invented FPS's or some equally dumb crap like that because the game became such a meme. The only reason Warhead sold at all, was because EA forced them to actually make it so more comptuers could actually run the game.

They were forced to optimize further given the difference in architecture of consoles at the time. But they actively refuse to update the original game to implement any such optimizations. And because the render part of the original engine is entirely single threaded, it doesn't give a flip about IPC; it only cares about clock speeds. So you could have a 12900K under liquid helium or that automated LN2 thing eVGA's K1ngp1n did as a functional demo for a competition. But unless your CPU clocks are hitting 10+ GHz, it doesn't give a rat's ass. it still performs like rat poop.

Still better than how halo 3 turned the whole campaign into a series of "biggest douchebag wins" multiplayer circle jerk fests.

Don't try to argue, some people are like
''I WANT NEW GAME''
But are also like
''NEW GAMES ARE ALL BAD''
There's no point to argue with them
They're like complotists:tpi:

Shooters rely on 3 things. 1. Guns, 2. Gameplay and 3. Storyline. Crysis games have always been OK in all these departments. It also does not have a relatable character. Halo IS masterchief (painfully confirmed by the failure of the "woke" guy who was to replace him in 5), Metroid Prime is Samus. Crysis was always 1, The yank, 2. The brit, 3. The woke fella.

If they had kept one hero, and one theme it would have been such a great series.
