Well tbh, it was never a racer i enjoyed playing, so i won't be shedding any tears.
Good. Let's not ruin a classic.
§ Created Toy Prototypes for Characters and Functionality within game.
Crash Team Racing, but with the need to buy little $15 toys to use other characters! Yay!
edit: or maybe not, nevermind.
I preferred the original PSX game to Mario Kart 64, the follow up Crash Racers weren't anywhere near as good (the GBA one was nice however) so I can't say I'm all that fussed.
Not sure if I want a new proper Crash game or not, that kind of platformer was clearly of it's time and it has dated somewhat. He was a generic "mascot" style character but the first three games had really nicely designed levels.
The only way they could match the awesomeness that CTR on PSX was, is to just upgrade the graphics of the original and leave everything else alone besides, maybe add more tracks.
Sounds like this project crashed and burned.
I've never played the original game, but from what I hear, it's really, really good. If the developers were to follow TwinRetro's advice, I certainly wouldn't mind giving the game a spin.
I liked the original one. It had the ambition of Diddy Kong Racing without any of the "blank" gameplay or forced diversions... it was all about accruing more trophies, or whatever, in order to gain access to new parts of the hub world, and thus, more secrets and more tracks.
The original is still one of (if not the best) kart racer out there, it's a shame it never franchised well like Mario Kart did. All its subsequent games just weren't as good. It seems the devs who would have been behind this did some decent games (like the PSP Ratchet and Jak games) but also a lot of shit too. For now though I'm satisfied with Mario Kart and I'd rather them not ruin the franchise any more.
This is the second Crash Bandicoot game that I heard was in development and got cancelled.
Upscale the graphics/HD textures
I kinda like the art style of it, how cartoony it looks.
I loved the first CTR and other Crash games, but if they're going to be bringing Crash back, I'd rather them just reworking on the originals so they get an idea on how everything was. Instead of going this long and starting up with something new and fucking it all up.
They should really just leave CTR alone......
Outside of Mario Kart, it WAS the best Kart Racer (Along with Sonic/Sega Allstar Racing now). I seriously doubt they could recreate the awesomeness, it'd just end up being like the crappy racers they made after CTR (That Tag Team racing one)
CTR spanked Mario Kart. In fact I'd actually say most modern Mario Kart games play a lot like CTR.
Plus there's a lot of things CTR did that kart racers haven't even touched since then. Like an actual single player mode.
But I'd totally support a HD remake with online play, it's an easy buck for Sony and I'm sure people would love it. EDIT: Well I think Activision or Vivendi now but you get the picture.
A single player mode with actual BOSS races. I haven't seen that done at all since CTR either.
For me it depends. The single player easily beats all the Mario Kart games, but as far as Multiplayer goes, i dont think anything can top Mario Kart 64. After that, most of the other Mario Karts have been fairly "Meh" for me (Still fun, just not nearly as memorable)
played ctr a lot! and i gotta say would love a remake. ctr is more battle racing than mk64. thats the advantage it has. btw dk racing was the real single player racing game from ninty although i dont know which was released first.
Any crash game that doesn't see the light of day is a good thing. Just my opinion. I know a lot of ppl like crash, but I never cared much for the series or any spinoff games.
Crash, Spyro, Sonic and Banjo.
In my opinion these 4 should NEVER be in another video game.
Sonic games can be good now.
