    Me:
I am mostly satisfied, except that I don't deal with Western Union or cashier's checks, both of which are quite shady.

Honestly, this looks like a check scam. Send the laptops first, and my payment must come in the form of a simple one-way check. I won't be sending any of the money back to anywhere.
ML (BG): Thank so much for your quick responds,Firstly you will receive a text on instruction to clear your doubt of scam but you are in good business and you will deduct your charges for the repairs ($700) only .You are to deduct your exact charges and transfer the rest to our shipper agent in other to create a working relationship because he will use that in picking up the faulty unit from different location assigned to him and get all delivered to you and also be picking them up after are done working on them and make sure that examination is done as proper check up for the repaired laptops before picking them up, this is as a result of total confirmation in your services rendered and will create a good business relationship in retaining you as our permanent technician as i have the believe you will render your services.
(2nd message sent shortly afterwards): kindly provide the necessary information for your payment
(So, yeah. Wondering if I could turn this situation to my advantage. What do you guys think?)

700 quid to install Win 7 on a couple of lappies.
Yeh, that's your very first problem right there.

Still, 8 lappies to only install win 7 + Microsoft office.
700 quid is a bit to much don't you think?

I personally wouldn't pay 90 quid for a windows 7 reinstall by someone when I provide license keys etc.
Even if it costs only half a day to finish, 700 quid is still a ton.

Ohwell, I'd just move on if you didn't lost anything financially.

I wouldn't pay for a Windows installation at all - the installer is in plain English (or any other of the zillion languages supported), I can go throught he process myself, but assuming that I was a complete technologyphobe, I'd probably pay around 20-40 quid per laptop depending on how much work was involved (backing up data, disk clean up and maintenance etc. all bump up the price) plus the cost of an OEM license, whatever that cost may be unless I provided a system copy myself.

Then it's best to shrug it off and continue living.

As much as I don't want to say it I feel like I should but..
Asking 700 quid to just install Windows on a couple of laptops whilst the customer provides license keys is pretty scammy.
Before people whine about what the definition of scamming is, yes I know what a scam/scammer is.
700 quid is really just to much to install Windows.
If anything, I'd ask 20 quid per install (including system cleaning tools, Anti virus, and other things)
Giving a discount as the number of installs increase.

iknothatfeelbro, but you wouldn't believe how many people are utter techphobes with way too much money to blow.

I have seriously watched people stress the hell out when trying to run an Anti Virus. One guy even cried, though to be fair he was kinda hopped up on pain meds.

Some people just don't know how to read, and it makes for some gooooood money.

If I were working in the IT department of whatever company you work in, I'd simply put tasks like AV scanning, disk defragging etc. on a schedule and ignore people's fears altogether - stuff like this can effectively work in the background every couple of days without stressing them out or disturbing work flow. ;)

Well, I don't work in a company yet, but that is what I would do if I had a sysadmin job. I do freelance IT for the time being.
