lol it's so funny when people find out their AMD chips are running at a slower clock speed then they thought and get pissed

clock speed doesn't mean shit anymore rob the 3200+ means it can do just as much stuff as a P4 3.2Ghz. Judging a CPU on its clock speed is like judging a car on how big its fuel tank it

Well im using a AMD Athlon 64 3200+ processor and it really pissed me off that its only working on 2Ghz!

Ive could got a computer at same price with an Intel 4 processor with 3Ghz!

But im going to get a new computer soon with a Intel Core 2Quad

IPC is different between the A64 and P4. Athlon 64 can perform 9 operations per clock cycle ... P4 can perform 6 operations per clock cycle.

2.0GHz * 9 = 18 million operations per second.
3.0GHz * 6 = 18 million operations per second.

Yeah. P4 clearly dominates. Then when you consider the Athlon 64 comes with an integrated memory controller and larger cache, you definately got boned.

Core2 Quad will get dominated by the AMD Phenom.

You have no idea if this is true or not. Don't take facts out of your ass. AMD hasn't released information about its newer crap cpus. Intel FTW

Ever since I got my first computer, I've only owned Intel processors. I didn't even know what AMD was until a little while after I got a P4 3.2GHz Intel processor.

Currently, Intel has the upper hand. I sincerely hope that AMD bounces back since Intel needs competition to not be lazy. Competing companies only benefit the consumer.

In the past I was a supporter of AMD Athlons, but lately I've been seeing much better performance out of out Intel Core 2 Duos than any of the new AMD's we've purchased at work.
So I would say Intel is currently in the lead.

ok lol...
P4 are shit... used to be good but now shit.
If you want the best get a Quad - but its not worth the extra $500
If you want a cheap but fast CPU get a Core2Duo - Even cheaper the AMD 64 X2 (can get a 4200 cheap now or even a 6000!)

No, please don't delete it!

Anyway, I gave my current system its last upgrades within the past few months... It's an AGP, socket 939 board that just got an AMD 64 x2 3200+ as the price bottomed out and a spanking new ATI X1950GT so I could play Bioshock and now Orange Box. This is my sixth major build with AMD without any Intel in between (excepting my work systems of course, which have all been Intel).

However if AMD doesn't kick it in high gear soon my next system will be Intel. And nothing reported at the most recent IEDM conferences suggest that the pecking order is going to change anytime soon either. Of course the next one is in Dec, so let's wait and see!
