Court declares Fox as rights holders for Watchmen

If you don't know, Fox has been in a court battle with WB over who owns the rights to a Watchmen movie. Fox claims they've had it for just about forever, and WB says they let it lapse.

The court has finally made a decision after 10 months in the courts. Fox owns the rights. What this means for WB's already finished movie, set for a March 6, 2009 release, is unknown.

The courts could seize all the footage, but Fox couldn't. Even if WB doesn't have the rights to the movie, they still own the rights to that footage. They just don't own the rights to distribute it and won't be able to release it until they work something out with Fox.

I can't believe that Fox wants to prevent the movie from coming out. They realize that it's relatively big name and that it'll make a decent amount of money, so I'm sure they'll work something out with WB.

Still, guess it might be delayed or something.

HAHAHA that's what WB gets for having some really shitty lawyers. I don't get the hate on FOX unless you're trying to like little children tie it to personal issues over politics. Fox warned them they owned the rights, WB pisses away a fortune regardless making a movie, then get their ass handed to them by the courts.

Why is this Fox's fault? And who says they'll prevent the release? They'll likely want to strike a deal with WB if anything to profit share on it and ultimately have to spend crap to do it...free money due to WB's legal departments incompetence.
