Since we have access to literally everything on that flash memory, I think the internal memory with the system menu, drivers and all is the NAND but im not sure, couldn't someone find a way to replace the default 512MB of flash memory with at least 2GB or more?

It might take some modifications but since flash is flash I could see it working.
Keep in mind I'm no technical guy so don't flame me, just sayin, I think it might be possible somehow possible.

well I read something about just replacing the NAND with another one same size, and it was such a hassle, so I think changing it for another one with bigger capacity could be possible but it will require some major guru of the moddifications

Instead of worrying about something like that we should get someone to work on SDHC support fo the system menu.

I remember about a modchip that is actually being developed with HD support such as mobile HD's.

Agreed - it probably could be done, but it's more likely to be useful to use SDHC or USB somehow.

Surface mount soldering is pretty tricky - I don't think it'd be worth it.

The Wii NAND cannot be replaced by a larger one. It is possible in theory to add a larger NAND chip to the console, but it is locked to only read a specific number of blocks. The lock is then AES encrypted like the rest of the consoles for verification. Changing the RAM and removing the limit would remove the encryption thus rendering the NAND useless.
