I plan on installing a modchip into my V2 switch. I've tried searching online and I haven't found any direct instructions on how to prevent online bans. Could I load up OFW and play online games without risk of being banned while having mods installed? (For context, I plan on getting some Super Mario Odyssey mods like online, could that get me banned from playing, for example, SSBU online?)

Yes, yes and yes. Any and all mods can make you get banned. If you don't wanna risk it, don't mod or get a second Switch that is untouched.

If I get banned while using a family subscription, will it ban all accounts, or just mine?

Shouldn't using eMMC prevent console bans? I can't remember since I stepped away from modding for a while.

Just to clarify, eMMC is the little NAND with the data stored.

I think you think of a EmuNAND (or Emu-eMMC) which is a good way to keep your naughty stuff on.
But the user in this case ask for using mods while playing online, which could get you banned indeed.

Oh haha. I really mess stuff like that up sometimes. Using mods in a game would definitely get a ban. What about a modded console but no mods on a game?

Somethings are fine to run on your console and Nintendo don't ban you.

I wasn't planning on installing mods to use in online games, I wanted to install a mod that adds online to a game. I know not to use mods on public Nintendo servers. Also one small thing, I plan on following Better Gaming's modding guide. Is this guide thorough enough, or is there a better guide I should follow?

No idea to be honest. I don't really mod my games on the switch

@K3Nv2, I think the RP5 has had 8GBs for a while? I know mine has 8GBs not sure it's needed for emulation though? Probably 4GBs is enough for 99% of what it's fast enough to emulate? I could be wrong if it can do like GC and PS2 stuff maybe more is needed? Probably stream the ROMs like the consoles did off the drives.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I believe what they do is OS and translation layer (emulator) and the emulator has its RAM like 36MBs for PS2 so like 3 times that maybe as things are shuffled around, a frame buffer and. Load the data from the ROM file into that systems RAM. I think I read that even 2GBs is enough if your just using a Pi for emulation.

    What's an RP5?

    Raspberry Pi 5

For me it's just an emulation machine

Like a super mini system, I use Batocera as an OS and it's pretty easy to set up, has a ton of UI skins you can make it look almost anyway you want. Still would kill for a WiiFlow like skin (some are close)
