Is anything special needed to copy a backup (burned) copy of a gamecube game to different media? I have several gamecube games on mini-dvdr and I would like to put them on a full size dvdr for use on the wii. Is it just a matter of using alcohol 120 to make an iso/mdf/etc image and then burning that to the new dvdr or do I have to do something more?

Yup, Alcohol 120% works, as does Imgburn and any other kind of ISO program. I'm not sure about Daemon tools though, I haven't used it in awhile.

Make sure its an ISO image though, becuase mdf, cue, etc. don't work. It has to be ISO
