Based on Spinal's command line options for conversion here I wrote a little batch file for easy conversion. Just drag and drop your video on the batch file, select your video format and you're set.

Grab it here: http://www.mediafire...stjgkp3nk39nhht or http://pastebin.com/NSKNdFwk
You also need a file called FFmpeg.exe. You can get that here:
32-bit: http://ffmpeg.zerano...s/win32/static/
64-bit: http://ffmpeg.zerano...s/win64/static/
(Just download the one at the top of the list.)

If you want to download YouTube videos, you can find an easy-to-use tool here: http://www.youtubedownload.com/

Put ffmpeg.exe and 3dvideo.bat in the same folder, then drag and drop your video file onto 3dvideo.bat, or pass its filepath as the first parameter on the command line. Select your video format, desired quality and whether you want the window to close when it's done, then just wait for it to finish. It will output as filename_3d.avi or filename_2d.avi.

You then take the resulting avi file and put it on your SD card in the same folder where your photos are stored. It has to be renamed in order to show up on the 3DS, however. Change the name to LLL-NNNN.AVI where L is a letter and N is a number. For example, VID-0001.AVI. Note that NNNN cannot be 0000 and you can't use a name that's already in use by another file; for example, if you already have a photo named HNI_0050.JPG, then you can't name your video file HNI_0050.AVI.

Then just boot up the Nintendo 3DS Camera app, touch View Photos/Videos and search for your video.

Apparently, your videos can only be 10 minutes long or they can't be viewed (I haven't tested it myself). So if you want to view a long movie or something you'll have to split it up into 10 minute long segments.

It's going alright thanks :) I know what you mean with gaming time. It's precious where I can get it these days.

  • Maximumbeans @ Maximumbeans:
I think that's why I focus on just enjoying single player experiences that aren't too competitive
  • Maximumbeans @ Maximumbeans:
    How are you doing?
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
There's also this thing where I'm hyperfocused at night and cannot get to sleep.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
    @Maximumbeans, I'm doing alright, thanks.

That must be rough. Productive I'm sure but hard to balance with daily life

@Maximumbeans, Indeed. I've been working on getting this Infecutus chip to work on my PS2. But after soldering, I realised that a plastic piece was missing from the power ribbon cable to the power and eject buttons.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Now I could go with soldering the contacts from the cable to the connector on the mobo, but doesn't sound like a good permanent solution.
  • Maximumbeans @ Maximumbeans:
Man, that's beyond my brain  I'm no good with hardware for now. I'd like to get into hardmods in future though
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Maximumbeans, Maybe start practice soldering. Get a cheap-ass soldering iron and follow some good YouTube tutorials.

  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Least my experience has gotten better than over a decade ago. My iron would constantly bump into components and break them.
  • Maximumbeans @ Maximumbeans:
Sounds good. I actually did soldering but like 16 years ago for school so uuuuh probably rusty haha
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Maximumbeans, Same here. I did soldering at school from a teacher who I honestly liked since he had plenty of good electronics experience.

@Maximumbeans, I had a friend who had a glass chess set for their birthday.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
It was like all clear and fancy. Tbf I'm not too experienced with chess, but would like to learn someday.
  • Maximumbeans @ Maximumbeans:
    That sounds really cool
  • Maximumbeans @ Maximumbeans:
I know the basics but no strategy at all
  • Veho @ Veho:
Watch chess streamers on Twitch and you'll pick up a thing or two.
  • Veho @ Veho:
Not to mention there's an infinite number of chess games for every possible platform.
  • DinohScene @ DinohScene:
just play it, get beaten a few times and start dominating
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
    Nude chess is best

    strip checkers > nude chess
