As the title says, I'm thinking about buying an Xbox360,
But I want a hacked one, that will allow me to boot backups. I read soemwhere that there's a firmware update which somehow helps me boot games from the hard disk, but what about the Live ban?
Can someone explain me what is the best and simple way to hack the Xbox in order to play backups, and no Live ban. I'm new to Xbox hacks [IMG]

You cannot play Xbox 360 games off HDD as of now. (You can for the original Xbox)

To play backup on Xbox 360 you'll need to flash your Xbox 360's DVD drive with iXtreme. Then you can use Verbatim DVD Dual Layer disks and a burner to burn ISO from your computer and play it on Xbox 360.

To avoid getting banned, make sure your backup is good. Most scene releases now are good to go, so you can just get the game from Usenet and burn them.

    What is I-xtreme?
It's an update for the xbox's firmware or the DVD-Rom drive?

iXtreme is a modified DVD drive firmware for Xbox 360.

Check out this tutorial on how to flash your Xbox 360 DVD drive.

Single layer support was dropped after the first lot of bans. The only firmware with any kind of single layer support is the xtreme 5.x for samsung drives and even then it's only for xbox 1 games.

I'm about to bye the Xbox pre-"modded" with the newest I-xtreme as they claim, and it's a good store, they fixed me my Wii and PSP, in the best way.
Anyway, when I get the xbox, download Halo 3, burn, put, if I try to sign in to live, will it work? Because I gotta be sure with this.

I suggest flashing the firmwares yourself, since you probably wouldn't want to ask the shop to update your drive every time a new version of iXtreme comes out.

Just make sure you follow the burning instruction correctly, and use Verbatim dual-layer disks you should be fine.
