Good afternoon, dear friends and knights of the shiny retro era.
I decided to share my research on the possibilities of Textractors for old Japanese games (mostly PC88 and PC98 games).
Messages in this thread do not mean that they are 100% correct and correspond to the actual capabilities of Textractor.
Most likely, I was not able to pick up the necessary hooks, only because of my crooked hands, and if anyone comes to the rescue in this case, may the light illuminate his path.
First checked game in this thread: SHUTENDOUJI (Released 1990-10 by Enix, JRPG, 6 FD)
Platform: PC88 / PC98 (actually in some game databases this game named as PC98 game but this is really PC88 game and there is no exist of any PC98 uphaul version)
Better on: ePC8801MA strongly cybermind edition
Original: manga: 9 volumes
Anime ecranization: 4 OVA
Textractor compatibility: Ideal (10/10)
Practically you do not need to do anything: all you need is Textractor in default setting state + ePC8801MA updated by cybermind (lets to catch hooks).
That'all. Hook for this game catched automatically and very well working.
I played game till end and translation nearly perfect (for machine translation quality of course, no any offense to translator's gods, which I admire eternally). All phrased clearly understandable and well structured.
Games is little grindy (but this is jrpg, so normal for this genre). All I reccomend is to watch 4 OVA anime ecranization (which is super GOOD and very athmosheric) before playing game or read 9 volumes of manga.
Game repeats all story plot very close to original and you will understand flow of story and details will more reach in you brain.
This is one of forgotten hidden gem of ENIX jrpg, so of course I recommend it to all company fans.
Thank you for you time. See you in next game.
