Hacking Codes question

I got my Pokemon ROMs patched so I could migrate from the gba ROMs, and now my cheat lists aren't being detected on my R4 menu. I loaded the Cheat Code Editor, and used the get game ID tool, and saw that after patching, the games had different IDs. I changed them both, but they're both still reporting no codes. Does this mean I won't be able to use codes when I want to use 3-in-1 migration? If so, is it possible (even though I highly doubt it) that I could get both a patched and clean version of the ROM on my R4 and detect the same save? Or will I just have to keep renaming files? Any insight is much appreciated.

    They used to look up videos as well as use one of those sites which first you input the pattern on what you are stuck on and it will tell you the instructions on how to solve it.

    from what i heard the technique is the same regardless of size so if you know how to solve one size, then you know how to solve them all
