I imagine you still cannot redeem the code on a european 3DS if you obtained US codes for both the system and the game, right?

Haha, or wait till 2.0 comes out... with maybe still a potential chance of bricking.

What if I switch to 2.02b, download the game, and then revert back to 1.2. Will that work?
1.2 doesn't have emuNAND, I think you still need to boot on gateway classic mode and be on emunand, so you can at least revert to 2.0b1, which is brick-safe.

Call Nintendo and ask them to temporary unlink your account, redeem the code without creating another NNID, just by setting your country in US and then ask them to link your account once again.

I could also redeem the code for you and transfer it to your 3DS, but I won't go to the DF until the next month.

Great!!! At least there's hope. Do you know what number do I have to call?? And I'm about to move to cuautitlan izcalli in about a week so... :P

Wait, i was thinking, can i delete this id from the 3ds(i have nothing on it, just created it to download the pokemon updates in case anything happened with the gateway etc.) and create and link a new one to get the code???

Yeah, I was saying revert to 2.02 for 7.1 emunand, install, and go back to 1.2. Then whenever 2.0 final gets released, switch back and the game would still be on there, right?

You can also keep the code unredeemed until the date indicated by Club Nintendo.

Which is like May or something.. so you have plenty of time to sit on it.

I have an unregistered 3D3 XL I just got, but none of those games yet :/

I'm confused... the site says that we should link the system? So if someone gave me the PIN code of his 3DS this won't work?

Aw, thanks for the fast reply XD
I'll start upgrading my emunand in the meantime. Once I update to the latest firmware, can I go back to 2.0b1 and use the eshop games and/or gateway card game? Or do I have to stay on 2.0b2?

I 'm not sure as you need an unused Club Nintendo PIN and possibly the serial number of the console associated with it. According to the FAQ, "As long as you register your system within the offer period (3/1/14 to 3/31/14), you qualify for the free download code." and the fact that you cannot use a refurbished system cause, " These systems do not ship with Club Nintendo PINs"

I'd already registered my 3ds xl.

If you just registered the system's serial number it might be worth it to register the PIN during the event time frame. It states "Register the PIN number for a Nintendo 2DS, Nintendo 3DS, or Nintendo 3DS XL system between" nothing about the serial however.

I think the PIN and serial are linked together? I could be wrong and hope I am so people can still use their PINs with other 3DS's.

I just registered both my serial and PIN, linked on Gateway Classic mode, and bought Animal Crossing: New Leaf. I'll report back how it goes :)

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way
