Click and Hold to Edit Title

If you put your mouse over any topic title...
the info that shows up is the date, blah blah blah, and "Click and hold to edit title"...
What's that for?

It's so you can change the title of the thread. However to prevent just anyone doing it, you have to keep the mouse button held down for 5 minutes or maybe longer.

A bug in the system, I guess. Moderators see this (and can actually rename topics this way), but we shouldn't.

Yep

Requires no holding though, the textbox appears immediately when the subtitle is clicked

We can also edit both by Full editing the first post though.
