fyi, cIOS202 is still used for MPlayer CE and WiiXplorer, all the other apps that used to use it (mainly tantric's apps, like WiiMC or emulators) now use IOS58+ahbprot instead

Actually, since September 2, 2010, MPlayer CE also uses IOS58+ahbprot.

I came from cIOS249 rev17 but after installed d2x it can't recognize my USB hard-drives...

I installed d2x in ios38+cios249, but nothing happens

First: Good decision to switch from an old cIOS to d2x.

But to be clear: You installed d2x into ios slot 38 so that the original IOS38 is overriden?

It is often recommended to use d2x with base ios 56 or 57. That does not mean to install the cIOS into that slots. You should only install cIOS into slots > 200. Anything else can cause a brick because of fixed boot1 (and boot2 v4?). However, you should use d2x installer to install d2x v6 into slot 249 and say that ios 56 or 57 should be used as base ios. Try again and share your results please.

I tested IOSes 56/57 into slot 249... none of them work with my hard-drives (not detected)

... also, I tested d2x-v6 with base 38 + slot 249 (for NAND emulation) and it worked flawlessly on a flash drive, but it didn't recognized my hard-drives again

...

As said before, cios249 rev17 (and previous versions) recognized my hard-drives without problems... can I be missing something (some patched IOS maybe?)... last time (3 or 4 months ago) I tried PMW and everything was OK

try base58, but FYI, the only time base58 is ever recommended is when it's the only base that is compatible with your HDD, so give it a shot. If it doesn't work, u can always revert to rev17 until d2x becomes compatible with your HDD

Can't syscheck get the version number from the mload module hash (or w/e) from either v5.1 AND v5?

It is not necessary to sign the hermes cIOS with the new method.
Hermes has already implemented some functions in his mload module to get the cIOS version and base IOS.
Look at "mload_get_version()" and "mload_get_IOS_base()" in the mload.c which is used by Syscheck and for example the cfg USB Loader.

...I still don't see how hermes v5 and v5.1 are significantly different though. Unless ur playing the new prince of persia game with a really outdated usb-loader, AFAIK there's nothing v5 can't do that v5.1 can

So basically with this new cios that blocks ios loading and preety much 100%$ compatibily with the different bases you can use to install the cios. Is wii Compatibity perfect now for loading games?

Once again but insted of Brawl I played Cod Black Ops campain mode for 3 hours stragiht and guess what it froze on one of the cutscens.I rebooted and played again and no freeze. So the d2x cios seems to freeze up the game after a few hours any fix for this? Also not really for cios but usb laoders ing general seem to lag more in online play for Call of Duty then running from backup dvds. any reason why?

ok but i'll have to play for a staragiht 2 hours. it doesnt freeze like very second it freeZesa after 2 or more hours starght.

also long time ago but i can confirm cod doesnt freeze at all(played for 5 hours) with rev20b.base 57.(howver online is still much more laaggy than with backup discs.)

EDIT: just used hermes 5.1[57] dont know about freezing but it seems the lag has dissapreradred. THANKS!

Hello, I write this message to express my gratitude to davebaol for giving this CIOS much needed stability and functionality. Great job my friend!

Only recently I managed to resolve an issue which kept me from using this CIOS. My external disk drive box (the box, not the drive itself), though it runs fine in Windows and is compatible with Hermes CIOS, wouldn't work with this CIOS. A few days ago, I bought a new external box and the problem disappeared.

Wouldn't it be useful if in the first post of this thread under "Known issues", which I suppose is like a to-do list, there was a section about such problems. What part
of the CIOS is responsible and what could be done to resolve hard disk compatibility issues.

Other people too, have similar problems and those who can't figure out what to do stick with Hermes CIOS which is not under development anymore or buy a hardware mod which is a shame because it really isn't necessary.

By the way, I don't know if there is another place where such issues are discussed, if there is please let me know.

I'm having trouble loading Sam & Max still. I installed v6, and I'm using the latest WiiFlow with a WBFS drive. Is there another step that I missed?
