Again, I'm new to softmodding, but which cIOS should I be running if I want maximum (i.e. fewest black screens) support of USB Loader GX?

    1. I followed the gbatemp.net guide to the letter.
    2. I downloaded USBLoader GX from here.
    3. I used MMM to install USBLoader .wad to my front page.
    4. I've run USB Loader GX and updated the program via wireless
    5. I've installed 15 games.

    My common errors are:

Black screen (Lego Indiana Jones 2, Prince of Persia - though someone suggested a fix already)
After I select a game nothing happens and then I can't select any other games either (meaning, I can highlight them but the disc doesn't come up and spin)
    Hex dumps

    Thank you for your help.

use either waninkoko's latest cios, or hermes v4 for best compatability.

Alsp, cfg usb loader usually has better compatability

Yeah yeah. You want full compatibility without read and via homebrew uh?

Backup Launchers/USB Loaders doesn´t have 100% compatibility. Is cool uh?

As I'm new to this, where would I find waninkoko's latest cios? And, is there a guide to install it similiar to the softmod guide on these forums?

Also, if I've ripped the games via USB Loader GX, will CFG USB Loader read the same rips?

XFlak, as per my initial post, I did use the guide on the forum and I'm very thankful for the time put into it. However, I'm still experiencing errors and was trying to figure out why...having spent hours searching dozens of sites, a common response is to change cIOS which prompted me to ask.

So, I'm assuming that if I used the guide on this forum, I have the latest cIOS? And, since I have the latest USBLoader GX, then everything on my softmodded Wii is up to date and black screens, hex dumps, and locks are just to be accepted?

PoP is a special case, and relatively new. Its fixed and working in configurable, but i'm not sure about usb loader gx, if its not fixed now, it will be soon, just check for updates.

I've never had a problem with configurable usb loader, u may want to try that

it depends when u followed the guide if u have the most up to date cIOSs, the guide gets updated frequently

Thanks, one last question - how would I completely clean my Wii - back to pre-mod state and then start at the beginning (to ensure I do everything exactly right)?

Do I risk bricking my Wii attempting this?

If this is not advised, is it safe to assume that if I go to the softmod guide in this forum, and start at the beginning it will fix everything that might be messed up (like reinstalling a computer program)?

no need to back to pre-mod state, you can just do it all over again

@pregnantgod (shouldn't this be goddess btw?), kimikal is right, its much easier/safer to rehack your wii using the guide from the beginning

'virginizing' your wii is pointless, and even if u do, ninty can tell if its been modified then re-virginized.

Thanks guys, and no to the goddess. I'm a dude.

    Who is ninty?

I'm going to run through the guide again tonight. Can anyone guess why when clicking on a title cover in USB Loader GX it would raise (as if selected) but then do nothing and not allow you to do anything else other than scroll through the titles (i.e. can't go to configure settings, can't escape to Wii sys menu, can't do anything other than a cold boot)?

Thanks, but I checked - no quick boot settings on anything.

    Here's where I am...

    1. I think I've successfully modded because I have Homebrew running. And I can run programs like DopMii and USB Loader GX as well as cIOS installer programs.
    2. I've installed cIOS v19 - the first time on IOS 249 and the second on IOS 36 (I'm betting this is one of my many problems)
    3. I run USB Loader GX and the titles show up but few if any will run - lots of black screens and some Hex dumps.

    Ideas?

    this does not make sense
did u USE IOS36 once to run the rev19 cIOSx installer then a second time using IOS249?
What base IOS did u select for your cIOSX install?

Honestly, it would be easiest for u to just use the simplistic mod to re-hack your wii

I seem to have it working now, at least some games. However, within USBLoader GX, if I select WWE RAW vs Smakdown 2010 - it highlights and then I can't select anything else. The same goes for Mario Kart.

I'm exhausted...I thought troubleshooting a PC was painful. I appreciate any insight.

I see that I can run a sys check within DopMii v12. Would it help to post that? Would that tell you what I've installed, what cIOS and what IOS I'm running?

(I'm assuming that if I can run Homebrew Channel then I need not worry about versions of that)
