I've been using the cIOS 222 for loading Wii games as it (to my knowledge) keeps drives awake by randomly reading data every once in a while. It completely solves the problem with USB loading for me that occurs with Waninkoko's cIOS but unfortunately not all loaders seem to support loading from it.

I'm using uLoader at the moment but it's not exactly my taste. For one thing it requires you to write game images onto the HDD rather than store them on a SD as with most loaders. To my knowledge the Ultimate and GX loaders don't support loading from cIOS 222. If they do then how can I enable it?

Otherwise are there any other loaders that support cIOS 222 other than uLoader?

Also, how do I go about adding channels for specific games to the Wii menu? I've used some before but I guess that they use Waninkoko's cIOS.

    1. USB Loader GX supports a specific version of it.
    2. Manual guide here, I couldn't find the automatic utility so you'll have to search for it.

How might I force the loader to use that cIOS though?

It always asks me if I want to use 249 or 222. But that might be because it always uses like 15 seconds to recognize my HDD (bah).

Click the gears icon in the lower left corner. Find the option called "Game Load". Change the cIOS from 249 to 222.

    Restart the loader.

You can set individual games to use 249 if you so choose (helpful for Metroid and others that would otherwise require a disk in the drive to play).
