I'm a simple man, I just want my save files.

Found a awesome guide on Switch Hacking 101, and the Checkpoint release thread.

Intention : Run Checkpoint homebrew app to get my save files.
Firmware : OFW 5.1.0
Internet : Online (no cfw, no xci or nsp)

TL;DR -> inject hetake payload, run cfw, run checkpoint, generate saves, exit, copy files to computer, remove all files from SD (except the Nintendo folder).

Question of the day:
If I do all of that, will i still get banned? (remember, no files are left on the SD card).
This procedure change anyting on switch that could get detected by Nintendo?
Any other instructions?

BTW, Shouts to all people involved on this apps. Great work guys.

Will you get banned you asked....Maybe...

you have run CFW to load checkpoint so you may get banned,
normal rule of thumb is if you use CFW/Homebrew. dont go online cause of a risk of ban..
No matter the easiest of tasks or the more complex,, the risk is always the same.

You could Mount the USER partition in hacdiskmount, and then simply transfer the saves if you know the title id and method..But be careful when you load direct from nand.. Click here for Tools

Do this to not get banned:

1. Delete your internet connection.
2. Enable Airplane mode.
3. Inject payload (Do not boot up CFW or Original Firmware!!!)
4. Backup your nand.
5. Now boot CFW.
6. Run checkpoint and get your saves.
7. Remove homebrew related files from your SD.

8. Restore your nand from your backup.
9. Shutdown your switch.
10. Boot up normally (no payload.)
11. Restore your internet connection.

This is the safest way to do it. If you follow these steps exactly, you should be safe.

Thanks for the instructions.
Seems like a dead lock :
- you need to back up your nand before running any cfw
- you need cfw to back up the nand

Isn't hetake itself a cfw?
Is it safe to use hetake for the nand backup?

hekate isnt a cfw, its a payload.
just mount ur user partition using memloader and hacdiskmount its like 10x faster because you dont have to restore ur user partition.

Interesting... Can you point some info on how to do it?
I'll try to search in the forum...

I did not found anything here on the forum about the tools you mentioned, but I have found an awesome video by @Skullator explaining all the process.

It depends how much if a bitch Nintendo is, used to be Homebrew was okay, now I don't know what to say. What you can do is you can make a nand backup, put the switch into airplane mode, backup your saves, then restore your nand, I'd guess as long as you didn't go online untill you restored your nand, you'd probably be okay.

Edit: Use hekate to backup, I had someone do something similar and then they told me "okay I used ReiNX to backup" or I guess it wouldn't really matter, but make sure your in airplane mode first, but really just dump right from hekate.
