I'm going to buy a used PSP 2000 from GameStop. I plan on moddng it. Is there any way I can check the motherboad before buying it to verify that it has a hackable motherboard?

No not really. AFAIK only thing they would let you do is try it out. If you find one at 3.95 or lower it is hackable.

K, thanks. So there's no marking on it or anything I can look for?

Buy a Pandora. Make a MMS. Go into the shop and ask to look at their used PSP's. Say you want to check that there are no dead pixels and that the MS reader still works. BINGO!

Buy one of the special edition bundles which are known to be hackable. If you can't find any of those at Gamestop, you'll surely find them on ebay. I got the Daxter one (which doesn't have stupid drawings and/or colors on it which other bundles like God Of War or StarWars ones have) from there.

Simpler way: Ask to check used PSP 2000s for scratches etc. and just take out the battery. There's a date code in there if I remember rightly but I can't remember what the code is that signifies its only PHA

Thanks for all your responses. I'll try the date code method. If it turns out not to he hackable I can always return it and get a new one.
