The only time I have seen the map big is when you're warping. The only other thing I can suggest is press zl and goto the other settings, now if you are OK with just 2 screens, screen setting can split the map and the "main" screen evenly.

Drop Rate Max Level/Stars doesn't work

you have to break your enemies to get materials/parts, like MH Rise. and depending on the level of your enemies/quests, the higher the level the better the material/prop drops, like MH Rise tooo.

nd are you sure you play it on NSwitch? not emu?

Quite likely that the video author used post-processing software to extract the top portion of the screen, stretch it, and record only it.
