The suggested Title ID's are as follows:

0001000148434650 (PAL)
0001000148434645 (NTSC-U)
000100014843464A (NTSC-J)

In so far as creating a wad, NUS Downloader v1 will definitely do so when using any of the aforementioned Title ID's. What isn't clear is whether or not there are any specific IOS files required in order for the Wii Speak Channel 2.0 channel to work (that weren't also required for the previous version).

The PAL version gives me a black screen so I'm gonna try the NTSC-U verison. maybe the numbers are messed up or something?

So, after testing 2 versions I get the same result. black screen.

There must be another IOS needed? I have both 38 and 55 installed.

Something is missing or its the wrong region. My system says v418 (4.0E) but this channel version is v5.12

Something is wrong somewhere?

Just an idea, but since the previous Wii Speak Channel was reported as making use of IOS55 and/or IOS38, could it be that they've been updated to facilitate for Wii Speak Channel 2.0? The title ID for IOS55 is 0000000100000037, and the title ID for IOS38 is 0000000100000026. Their version numbers are currently v5149 and v3610 respectively. The version numbers on the IOS55 and IOS38 wads that were in circulation at the time of the previous Wii Speak Channel were v4633 and v3609 respectively, so it would seem like something has changed.

Mhh, NakedFaerie is right. For me, my Wii just resets with WiiSpeak Channel 2.0 installed.


Installing the 0000000100000026 wad will gibe error ret= -1 in WAD Manager.

I've read in some places that the first Wii Speak Channel only made use of IOS55, so perhaps you should start with this rather than IOS38. The Title Database doesn't make it clear: http://wiibrew.org/wiki/Title_database

Does anybody know if either of these IOS' were included as part of Waninkoko's 4.0 updater? I can't remember seeing either of them listed.

I did it! I got the wii speak channel and it works.

What I did was opened up the old working wii speak and used that details and downloaded the new version.

So you dont have to do all that crap, just load NUSD like in the details before but put in
Title ID - 0001000148434645 v256

Dunno if its an old version being v256 but it works and it looks different to the old one I had.
If it is the old version then why isnt it asking for an update now?

Well, I changed the 'v' to 512 and its downloading... Maybe this is the new version??? I dont know...
I'll get it and she what that does.
BTW, the channel says "Wii Speak Channel" nothing about v2.0 like the previous one did.

I think I just downloaded the old version and got that one working? As its 1am here and I'm really tired I will get sleep and try again fresh in the morning.

I upgraded via wana's 4.0 custom updater from 3.2E. I also updated IOS38 to the newest version with the trucha patch installed via WiiSCU v1.0

I just tried the v512 and its the same, black screen but it does say its 2.0 in the channel title.

There must be another IOS we are missing?

I read that WiiSCU will be updated to add the Wii Speak channel update so whenever thats out it should fix this problem.

Anyway, for now we can get 1.0 working without asking for an update, just reinstall it. I dont know why it doesnt ask anymore? Maybe there is an update checker and NUSD doesnt put it in the WAD?

Anyway, too late for me. If nobody has found the fix by morning I will give it another go then.

WiiSCU v1.0 doesn't update IOS55, and this will almost certainly be used by the new Wii Speak Channel (after all, the previous version definitely did). Perhaps you could try uninstalling the channel, installing the most recent IOS55 (not sure if it's possible to trucha patch this), and then reinstalling the Wii Speak Channel wad resulting from 0001000148434650 v512.

I got the newest IOS55 then reinstalled WS 2.0 and still same problem. black screen.

It's defidently missing something... Another IOS or something?

It certainly seems like the Wii Speak Channel 2.0 makes use of a new/different IOS, or there's something missing from the wad resulting from NUS Downloader. Looks as if some expert advice is needed now! Oh well, at least some progress has been made.

Nothing regarding a title is ignored in NUSD. I actually find it interesting that the Shop would have a standard ticket in place for the Speak Channel, considering that other things purchased there do not.

I just took a look at the TMD, and I believe the channel requires IOS56. I have never heard of this IOS, but it does indeed run through NUSD. This should solve the problems.

It should. Run '0000000100000038' through NUSD. I would FreeTheBug afterward to enable the Trucha bug. After installing that, you should be able to boot the latest Speak Channel.

I did this check on the NTSC version, though I'd be shocked if it was any different for PAL/NTSC-J. IOS modules are not region dependent.

All IOS modules should have been fixed. I see that you are trying to pass the files directly to freethebug, however it will indeed find nothing inside the encrypted files. You will have to pass it the WAD file instead. That way it decrypts the files and will find what it needs. Anyway, it shouldn't be an issue since nothing but Speak runs off of this IOS.

I'll be testing it too, v1.1 of NUSD is coming along and should be safer, and include hopefully some new features.

Interessting. Didn't came across this screen. Even after redownloading the IOS. Version was/is 4890.
I noticed leaving the version box blank brings an 404 error.
