My Awesome theory( Is now a Reality!)---Changing a Pokemon game to another Pokemon game!>>>> It Works!
Please note, this is not a pokehack
How it happened---

Not before a day or two ago I was going over the Pokemon hack rules thread. I myself was planning to start with my own one of my own hack. It occurred to me that pokemon pearl and platinum were not very different, apart from adding the Distorted world, Charon and Looker, there were not many huge changes.
When it occurred to me that the game changes in pearl to pt could be made by a good experienced hacker(except for the distorted world). :P
what is this?

I devised a method that would convert a pokemon game to another pokemon game, without any legal issues,(a secret)

Is it possible?

Nothing is impossible! :grog:

Is it legal?

Honestly, I think its legal!
There is no ROM sharing at all!
As I said before the rom is just modded(to that extent that the even the id etc change to the target game.

Compatibility

VVV
CONFIRMED---

I tried all games(including b/w 2) and they work fine
The base file was a pokemon platinum( every one has a platinum or white rom)
Even hacks work!

Not CONFIRMED---

Pokémon Franchise spin-offs like Pokemon Conquest, Ranger etc.

So, why should I use this?

Its legal>>>>Can be shared on forums
Smaller in size than the real rom
Patching takes just 2 to 4 seconds!

:creep: Proof :D

Good, Good! So were can I get these patches?

There won't be any patch just now, until gbatemp's mods and staff say yes

Q1. Any way what would be the size of a patch?
A1. 60 to 80 Megabytes when in raw form, 20 to 30 Megabytes in RAR/7z

Anymore questions? Ask me on this thread!

This is just as illegal as sharing a ROM.
Your patch will contain copyrighted data including graphics, programming code, sound, basically everything. Just scrambled around a bit.

You're actually meant to have a patch before you make the thread.
The thread is what you need them to say yes to, since you already made the thread.
You might as well post a patch.

there is absolutely nothing legal about this. do you actually know how/why patching works? i can take a jpeg and make it into a white rom with xdelta, but that doesn't make anything about it legal. all you would be doing is distributing gamefreak's code and assets in a patch instead of as a rom.

the reason patching works for rom hacks is that there's (ideally) nothing in the patch but the hacker's work. there's no copyrighted assets being distributed.

This is a NO.
hiding a rom inside a patch is the same thing as providing a ROM.

it's still illegal and forbidden.

a patch is NOT 80MB, but usally very few MB (around 1MB for translation patches)
