So my brother has a slim thats about 8 months old now and hes just wandering what would happen if he got it modded, since he wants to use it for live too. we had an older phat one (thats RROD on us now) that was modded but it got banned not to long after, which we obviously dont want happening again. i know not to do stupid things like playing leaked games, especially online, but other than that is there any way to know anymore so long as the game is stealthed, or is there still a high chance of being banned from live? thanks.

It depends on your drive at first.

    Find out of it's moddable.
(opening it up or doing a check on the Drive data base)

After you have modded it you should check EVERY ISO with ABGX.
Burn them on Verbatim DVD's with 2.4x speed.
Burn XGD3 ISO's (8.5 GB in size) on a Verbatim with a hacked Liteon iHAS DVD drive.
(these are a bit more expensive now)
You can truncate them all (as of today) EXCEPT FORZA 4!
However I don't recommend truncating ANY disc!
Forza 4 contains CIV checks (Content Integrity Verification) which does random checks all over the disc.

If you have truncated the disc IT WILL FAIL the CIV and it WILL lead to a ban.

If you don't want to burn discs then you could invest in a ODDE.
An ODDE is exactly the same as a WODE for the Wii.
It uses a external HDD to load game ISO's
Only thing needed to do is to dump your Drive key and install it in the ODDE. (pretty simple to do so)

Game ISO's should still be checked with ABGX.
If you do so then the chances of getting banned are slim to none.
Also DO NOT!! try the old "non-JTAG" rubbish that used to work.
Also don't go around modding save files (it may lead to a ban, although it is very rare)
Profile modding is detectable and bannable.

An ODDE is a small box that is placed between the Mobo and the DVD drive.
It emulates the DVD drive and allows for games to be loaded form a HDD.

The xKey is a great ODDE.
Should cost less then 100 bucks.
