I'm still new to Wii hacking, so please excuse me if this sounds like a noobish question.

I just recently softmodded my Wii and have 3 games working on CFG loader. The problem is, to use CFG loader I have to plug in an SD card every time (in addition to my flash drive, which holds the ISOs) and this particular SD is the one my phone uses. So every time I want to play Wii, I have to take apart my phone to extract the SD and then put it back in when I'm done. PITA.

I know there's channels you can install to launch CFG without an SD. But there's so many! I went to the CFG thread and saw at least 5 different ones. Which one is right for me? I just want to have CFG without my SD card. Thanks in advance!

The bad thing about this, is that you cant freely update it. You have to install a new wad. You should really invest in a card for your wii. Another good option would be to format your flash drive back to FAT32, and use it for both games and your apps, since you can run games off of fat through CFG USB loader.

I'd invest in an SD card if I were you, they're rather inexpensive nowadays, and honestly, even a 1GB SD card is enough to cover most needs. I have a 1GB SD card and haven't filled up even 25% of it despite having many different apps.

As for your actual question... a forwarder channel is basically a WAD file that links to the boot.dol file of a certain app. Sort of like the shortcuts you can create on your desktop of a computer, so this isn't the option you're looking for.

I believe (must stress I'm not 100% sure), a hybrid channel is basically one that has the program stored within it, so that the app will run just from it being installed to your system menu.

Oooh, my Flash Drive that I use to play my ISOs is FAT32. I play the ISOs in wbfs format and place them in a wbfs folder...

can you explain where to get CFG for a usb flash drive?

Try xflak's ModMii app for your PC. It'll set up your USB drive with a usb channel, with options stored on FAT.
Don't do the whole ModMii process, just the "set up for USB loaders"

The whole ModMii thing is pointless. Just copy the apps folder and the usb loader folder from your SD card to your flash drive.

Yeah, I'm trying to do the mod-mii thing right now and it's kinda confusing. It keeps saying it can't find the stupid usb-loader folder on my USB drive, even though it JUST made one.

BUMP. I put the apps and usb loader folders on my flash drive, but when I go to the HBC nothing shows up. Did I miss something?

for some dumb reason... wait, you're gonna love this, I am sure...

In HBC 1.07 and 1.08 you need an SD card in the wii for anything to show up, IIRC...

hitting 1 and picking USB Storage doesnt work?

Why are you going to the HBC?
With ModMii, which I told you about, it'll automatically create a USB channel you go directly to,
and also setup folders for you to put on your USB drive with a GUI formatter FOR YOUR DRIVE.
so, your USB drive will look like this:

    apps
    codes
    usb loader 1
    usb loader 2
    CFG config
    wbfs
    GUI formatter
    wiibackupmanager

(with all the games going into the wbfs folder)
Now, if its too hard to understand, then please, don't try it.

Dude. Didn't you see my earlier post? The one above the BUMP post. I had problems with ModMii.

And I tried pressing 1 and selecting USB, didn't work. I checked the HBC version and it is 1.08...
