The acclaimed title Celeste originated as a project developed in four days at a game jam for the PICO-8 platform. This version, which came to be known as Celeste Classic, was smaller in scope and aesthetically different given that PICO-8 accommodates a 128 x 128 resolution and a16-color palette. To celebrate the 3rd anniversary of Celeste, the game's original developers made a sequel to Celeste Classic for PICO-8 which was developed in only 3 days.

Titled Celeste 2: Lani’s Trek, it is freely playable on your browser or downloadable for free for from Itch.io (Windows, Mac, Linux, and Raspberry Pi versions).

Interesting, a shame Celeste Classic 1 can't be downloaded too.

I would love to see Celeste Classic 2 ported to GBA like the first one was, to be honest. This looks like something to play when I have time to kill!

hey, give it a week or two
hopefully they'll put out an update that puts Lani's Trek in the PICO-8 easter egg, or even add a second one for it
and ngl in a few years I could see it even becoming an actual full-blown Celeste 2 (I hope)

Well... You can download the source code from the Pico-8 website.

But I think to play it, you need to buy Pico-8, not sure tho.

They should've pushed it into the original game as DLC.

Yeah, I think I am going to go buy Celeste at this point and see what the hype is about. Plus, I am not even going to pretend the main character being trans and the game being a metaphor for the trans struggle doesn't pique my interest in knowing more.

I agree with the sentiment that I'd love some form of console port. I'm not good at this playing on my dang keyboard. Would appreciate an official update for Celeste 1, but hey, I'd take some form of homebrew port too.

    (Doesn't the 3DS have a PICO-8 player?)

I've literally not met a single person who doesn't put it up there as one of their favorite games. The only reason I haven't bought it is because of money issues. Luckily, I've been finding ways of either getting extra cash or spreading my payments out more so I can do the things I enjoy, like trying to the game (Celeste) that everyone has been telling me to play.

To play it in your browser, yes. But last time I checked, to play Pico-8 offline, you had to buy it. Maybe I should have a look at it again.

Yeah, I know. But the guy I quoted wanted to download Celeste 1.

Yes, if you want a local (offline) copy, you have to buy it. It's $15.
