I'm suddenly in the mood to buy some games.

Obviously I'm getting Shantae and Pushmo, but I'm debating myself to get Cave Story original for $10, or the enhanced port for $40.

Also anymore worthwhile stuff to get under $7 on the eshop?

I'm not interested in titles that are also available as a cart, I'm not interested in old gameboy games since there are emulators on my PSP.

I wouldn't bother with Cave Story 3D, the redone graphics are both poor visually and hamper the gameplay by making the hitboxes confusing. Pixel-perfection collision engines don't make sense with the camera work they've implemented.

Actually it was pretty amateurishly made, right down to sloppy things like King not holding a sword at all, when attacking Balrog.

DSiWare version should be vastly superior, and I'm still waiting on it in Europe. But with cave story+ on steam I'm probably not going to bother now.

As the others have stated get CaveStory +. But if you absolutely must get it for a portable get the Dsi port.

Also Mighty Milky Way, Waryforward have made some of the best DSiWare.

I don't even want to play Cave Story because of it's "Lost Forever" trope (cannot get good ending unless you satisfy extreme conditions)

Save some money and get the DSiWare version, it has the 2D charm that makes the game what it is.

You're supposed to get that ending the first time, learn some things during your playthrough, and get the better ending on the next playthrough, try alternative things like not trading away a certain weapon. That's what the developer intended, and it works very well.

I'm also waiting for the European DSiware release. Is it definitely still coming? Last I heard it was due Q4 2011 and I haven't seen it on any recent release schedules since then. Really worried that they've cancelled it because of the 3D remake. Really hope it comes out soon. Looks like there's no other way to get it on DS, unless someone ports NXEngine.

Back on topic, the 3D version looks terrible (both style and quality of graphics). Stick with the original sprites if you can.

They didn't even put the original cave story on the retail cart citing "there isn't enough space on the cartridge for it".

Bull, the steam version is only 50mb, the original far far less, 3DS cartridges are very high capacity, and the under-done graphics of the 3DS remake can't have taken up THAT much space. It was a great opportunity to put the perfect 320x240 resolution original on the 3DS.

Actually now that CS+ includes CS3D's soundtrack as an option, it's well over 50MB

I guess I'll just skip Cave Story.

But I'm kinda not in the mood right now because the eShop charged $12.98 (even though its listed as $11.99) for Shantae's revenge, charged said transaction 3 times to my account, and It didnt even let me download the game or show me a reciept. So now I get to wrestle around with Club Nintendo or Bank of America customer support for a few months to get back the $40 I just lost.

Originally I kept getting "billing address does not match credit card" error messages thinking that I should try again. Tried again for the 3rd time, went on my bank site to check my info, and saw 3 $12.98's showing up in my payment history.

Yeah... Sofar a VERY unpleasant eshop experience. To hell with shantae. That bitch isn't worth $40

I'm currently playing it on WiiWare for the first time.

I got that first ending by taking the dragon to escape (and the game froze at "the end" screen, so I had to reboot).
Then, I reloaded the last save, and I didn't have to play it all again to continue playing up to the top.

I already exchanged my weapons two times.
The second time, it's by helping the Little husband (he traded the good sword with a bad gun). I can trade it back anytime, so it's not like I have to play the game all over again either.

Is there really different ending requiring to start a new game?
How many ending has this game?

A couple, the real ending which extends the game with an extra level and two bosses has some pretty specific requirements. If you intend to find that one without looking it up you'll be looking a looong time.

    Also, I enjoyed CS3D.

As long as it's not a random requirement (some hints are in the game), then I don't care searching by myself :)

How do I know if I have the best ending? There's some kind of message "congrats it's the best one" ?
I'm sure I had the worst one :P

    Thanks for the reply.

Hmm, the best way of giving a hint without spoiling to much would be by saying this: You have another two bosses to go After the Undead Core. If you get to those you'll get the full ending of the game. And, you get to those bosses through the pre-fab building outside of Misery's den. You know you have met all the requirements if you find the door to the pre-fab building open during the "final" escape with Sue.
(I tried my best to describe it in a fashion that does 't spoil to much but makes sense when you've played that part of the game.)

The ending will be different, but it doesn't downright state that "this is the best ending" IIRC.
