I guess that confirmed my purchase of Resident Evil: The Mercenaries. There are no good games coming out until September :\

Ugh, I still think it looks terrible.

Do yourselves a favor and just buy the DSiWare version for a fraction of the price and without the terrible graphics.

That makes me sad. I've been looking forward to this game [IMG]

    New screens are cool though.

What's so bad about the graphics? They look great.

    That's what I did.
I know alot of people have probably said this, but if you want updated graphics just go for the wiiware version.

I don't think it looks bad, other than some of the low-res textures. Sure, I would have preferred a 2-D remake, but still.

It looks cool. Especially the recently released gameplay trailer restored my faith in it.

A good 2D platformer would still be awesome on the 3DS.

There's nothing wrong with the gameplay, it's just that the graphics look terrible compared to the original and you're gonna pay $40 for a game that was (and still is on some consoles) free. Hell, it's even like a fourth of the price on DSiWare.

It does NOT look terrible. It just lacks the charme the original had.

I think it looks pretty pleasing, albeit a bit more generic.

I would pay $40 because that equals 28 Euro. I'm not too sure about 40 Eur yet though...

I wouldn't pay full price for reasons you already posted, I'll get a used one sometime later though to experince it in 3D.

Kinda going off on a rant here, but this seems to be a huge issue with the 3DS. People are just so willing to repay for games just so they can see them in "3D". I mean you're paying $40 (and whatever the price is in other regions) just to see SSFIV in 3D, Ocarina of Time in 3D, Star Fox 64 in 3D, MGS3 in 3D, Rayman in 3D, Splinter Cell in 3D, the list goes on. I mean sure, they add some other features like touch screen controls, maybe some upped graphics, motion controls perhaps, but it's still the same game for a higher price. And I don't see portability as a huge selling factor, especially on games that were so rooted as being iconic home console games.

This version does not even look like its worthy of a retail version.

They should include an original version and a 3D version.

I agree with Guild. Until this becomes budget priced, I won't buy this, and even then I still prefer the look of the Dsiware version which I already own. Extra features might pull me in provided that they're substantial.

And this is just my opinion, but I think the Wiiware version is the best version of Cave Story aside from the fact you need to pay for it. I like the new look + soundtrack and that it still keeps the feel of the original game.

I don't see myself paying $40 for this unless there are some serious extras considering the price on dsi and free on pc and psp.

I really think they made a poor decision to bring it to the 3DS when the DSiWare version exists that can be played on the 3DS. Many people love the retro appeal of the original, so if the only thing that is changing is the graphics, then there's no reason to get the newer version for many. They'd need to bring in some serious extra content and/or free DLC to make it a recommendation over the original.

What would be screwed up is when the 3DS version comes out, if the DSiWare version is pulled from the 3DS eShop and being able to transfer it from DSi to 3DS is halted.

I wasn't sure if I should get the DSiWare or this one, but I think I'll go with the DSiWare one.
The 3DS one doesn't look THAT much better that it will be worth the $40.
I'll just get it when the price drops.

Yeah the WiiWare one had so much effort gone into it.

By rights this version should have the original PC look, WiiWare look and this, just to please everyone.

I see it this way: I can get the real beautiful old school PC version for free and updated graphics on WiiWare for just a few bucks. The 3D remake is just an optional bonus. If the price is right, I will buy it (or if I play it and am blown away).

I guess the bottom line of all this is:
If you change something that everyone loves, you're hardly ever successful.

Game looks alright to me. It does have the old sound track and more content.

It seem they are really trying with this version as well.

Having multiple looks would probably be to much trouble either in development or development cost.

That like having two or three of the same games on one cart?
