"Castlevania: Nocturne" Season 2 gets a brand new trailer ahead of its release on January 16th

The Castlevania series on Netflix has seen great success throughout the years, with the series now about to debut its 5th season, with the latest one being confirmed last year.

The original series ran for 3 season, which covered the events of "Castlevania 3: Dracula's Curse", following Trevor Belmont and Sypha Belnades with the help of Alucard in their fight against Dracula, and subsequently against other dark forces remaining in the world after his defeat.
After that, the 4th season continued the story and jump ahead in the timeline of the Castlevania franchise to follow the events of "Castlevania: Rondo of Blood", with the story set during the French revolution and focusing on Richter Belmont and Maria Renard in their fight against the vampire messiah Erzsebet Báthory. Now, this 5th season will continue where the last one left off, reintroducing once again Alucard into the story to aid Richter and Maria to take down Erzsebet once and for all.

This last trailer shows the main trio of characters, Richter, Maria and Alucard, joining forces and working together with the soldiers of the revolution to fight against the dark forces of Erzsebet.

The 2nd season for "Castlevania: Nocturne" will premiere exclusively on Netflix on January 16th, 2025.

i think you are.
I don't know anyone who actually likes it, especially people who played castlevania.
They seem to have the strongest hate for it.
I can see people's problems with it and there were definitely a lot of parts that I really did not like, I even had to turn it off at one point  but overall I enjoyed it

It's okay, for the most part.
There are certainly idiotic tangents and story arcs that didn't need to exist at all, Season 3 had a lot of that.
Other than that, the action and quirky dialogue tends to work for me, I'll surely see this season once it drops.

I love this adaptations. They are the reason i re-started to play Castlevania and bought the Advance and Dominus Collection.

I liked it, which reminds me of how I felt after season 1 of the original series. It's the setup. Looking forward to seeing what they do with it.

Which makes no fucking sense, because if you want non-stop action you can just play the games. Season one of Nocturne started pretty damn slow, true enough, but the people who expect every episode to be like a Michael Bay movie are super annoying. Any Netflix show that makes it past two seasons is pulling in tons of viewers, like it or not, so let them tell the story they want to tell.

After some effort I've learned to moderately enjoy the Trevor's Castlevania series for what it is, but there's a point to be made that videogame content is awfully represented 99% of the time in other medium.

Like, make me feel like I'm in those games. Make the aesthetic resemble those games. Bring in the cool factor. The songs. The enemies, the abilities, the locations, all the lovely details. Don't get a generic gritty and dark world, put a Castlevania skin on it and call it a day, then proceed to drip feed us the "fan service" stuff.

The hardcore fanbase are the ones who should be pleased first and foremost, but the majority of the time a videogame adaptation comes, the source material is always turned into something less just to please the least common denominator, because unfortunately that's how capitalism works.

No, I'm not wishing for a story with lack of depth, you can have both things.

PS: I've not watched Nocturne, but after hearing that if suffers from even more pacing problems than the previous series it does not make me want to watch it.

Also seeing footage of Richter being this emotional fragile twink doesn't help either, I mean what happened to this

I know I can't truly criticize something I haven't watched, but I reserve the right to be skeptical.

Netflix show that makes it past two seasons is pulling in tons of viewers is just not true especially if its cheap show to hold an IP.
Even the latest Lord of the Rings animated movie was simply made to HOLD THE IP via contractual obligations and they were willing to spend 30 million to do it.

Hand-drawn animation is never cheap, especially not a show that runs for four seasons and a spin-off.

LotR IP is owned by Amazon now, so yeah they don't really care about wasting money. That said, the movie is equivalent to only three or four episodes of Castlevania in terms of run time.

Season 4 was inevitable but... woof. The awful corny dialogue and shoehorned sexual crap along with a major scarcity of engaging action sequences kills this for me. The games have good enough storylines without having to resort to a vampire-themed Game of Thrones clone written by a horny version of whoever comes up with all the pandering jokes they smother you with in Marvel "films." It all could have been a couple of movies to spare us of that.

https://www.statista.com/statistics...-original-series-production-cost-per-episode/

Castlevania is done by cheap south korean animators is at most a million per episode which makes it's entire SEASON the same amount of just one EPISODE of some these shows.

This was a mayor turn off for me.
I don't see the need to shoehorn any kind of sexual stuff in any media, be it of one preference or another, it's just mindless to me and doesn't add to the story at all.
I get some demons or monster use sex as a driving factor, but to go to THAT extend is just tasteless, at least for me.
At least Season 4 did look okay (I think you meant Season 3 in your post?), even if they nerfed Richter to oblivion for most of it.
