I could only think to try to reinstall cMIOS. If that doesn't fix it I'd try making a gcbackup loader channel to try to make up for it.

What worked? Reinstalling the cMIOS or installing the channel?

Also, I'd like to try using backups, so what should I do (Info below).

    I have a 4.0U Wii (not LU64+, btw).

Should I install the WiiGator Backup Channel (Already have it downloaded, just need to know if it's recommended before installing with WADManager), or should I just use the Backup Launcher through HBC/BB?.

It really depends on your patience level. Installing it as a channel saves time because then you can just install the wad and launch it as a channel whenever you want to load it. I personally load using a channel myself as I like loading backups shortly after boot instead of going through the homebrew channel first.

But if your more patient and don't care to mess with channels, you'll probably want to use the homebrew channel method.
