Hacking Can't save my games on NDS whilst using EZFLASH 4

Hi,

I just bought a Nintendo DS and I also got the EZFLASH 4 LITE w/ 1gig SD card.

I've put on about 30 games onto it. There are two folders on my 1gig SD card. One is called GAMES and the other is called SAVER.

All the games work etc which is good.

Only problem I'm having at the moment, is that I can't seem to save games.

Here's my scenario.

I play New Super Mario World, then save it. I turn off my NDS, turn it back on,turn on and opened New Super Mario World, and my saved game is still there (which is good). I then turn off my NDS, turn it back on and play another game (e.g TOPSPIN2) and then save it. When i turn off my NDS, and turn it back on, and go back to the New Super Mario World game, the game I saved is gone.

Anyone know how I can fix this problem?

The save stored on the cart(EZ4) backs up onto the SD card when you turn on the DS.
There should be a splash screen telling you that it's backing it up and to touch the screen to skip. Don't touch the screen at that point, or any buttons. Wait for the menu to come up.

If that doesn't let your saves work as they are supposed to I would advise making sure your cart firmware is up to date and you have the latest client software. Probably worth formatting your SD card too.

If all that doesn't work then you may well have a problem with the cart.

The splash screen does come up telling me that its backing up. And it does actually back up my game. However, that's not really the problem, the problem seems to be that after i save one game, play another game and save that game, the first game i saved is not saved anymore..

how do i update my cart's firmware and get the latest client software?

Oh, I forgot to ask, once the splashscreen does come up telling me it's backing up my game, should there be a file created in my SAVER folder? Because I check my saver folder after that splashscreen and it's always empty.

Also, I recall a friend of mine saying that he thinks that in order to save the games, you'd have to copy some sort of .sav file into the SAVER folder. e.g. If you have TOPSPIN2.nds in the GAMES folder, if you want to save the game, you'd have to put a TOPSPIN2.sav (save files are around 256kb) into the SAVER folder. So if I have 10 games, I'd need 10 of those .sav files in my SAVER folder.

Is that right?

The first save game has gone because it was NOT backed up.
A save will stay on the cart itself until written over by a save file for another game. Same game, no problem. New game save, say goodbye to old save that was not backed up!
The cart can only hold the one and that is why it backs it up onto the SD card (or should) on a reset.

The .sav file should be created when the game is transfered to the SD card via the EZ4 client software.
I'd say this is definitely where the problem lies.

To get the latest firmware/client software I advise visiting the sosuke EZflash IV forum.
You will find nice packs with the latest firmware and client software.

ok, so I just got the EZ4_Client.

hehe. Never knew I had to use this to transfer games into my NDS. The way i did it before was just copy and paste the games onto the SD card.

Now I have to transfer 1 game at a time..hehe

Is that the way to do it?

Yep, if you have the .nds files in one directory then you can select multiple files to transfer at once though.
