As a matter of troubleshooting, I would do the following:
- Delete boot.firm on the root of the SD card
- Delete the luma folder and all of its contents on your SD card
- Redownload Luma3DS 7.1 and put the boot.firm onto your SD card root
- Recreate the luma folder, and recreate the payloads folder inside that
- Redownload the latest version of SafeB9SInstaller and put the firm into the payloads folder
- Boot your 3DS and reconfigure your Luma3DS settings
- Reboot your 3DS while holding Start

Least my experience has gotten better than over a decade ago. My iron would constantly bump into components and break them.
