Hacking Can't get Pokemon games to save on Edge card

Hi all, I've searched the forums to see if anyone has posted this before but I didn't find anything. I'm having a problem with Pokemon Pearl and Diamond on my sons Edge card. He can play the gams fine but it doesn't detect a saved game. Every time he plays he has to start a new game. I've tried putting new Pokemon roms on the card and that doesn't help. I've downloaded new roms and that doesn't help. He has a 4gb memory card with about 128mg free space so I think space isn't an issue cause all the other games save fine.
