I got my Wii updated to 3.1j and Wiikey 1.9beta.

But when I insert Mario Galaxy USA into my JPN wii,
    it locked up after boot.

Is there anyone can run Mario Galaxy USA on their JPN Wii?

does the wii key boot import games ?

i thought most modchips only play bootlegs from the region your console is from ?

You cant get it to work because it doesnt work. Please do read the many other posts about this issue before posting. The jap Wii can only way the Jap SMG version.

Well, they have implicitly promised to support all released NTSC-U games on JPN consoles:

So, unless they are outright lying in their advertising, then it really is their problem.

Got this problem as well on my Jap Wii, if the PAL doesn't work on the JAP then I'm getting a NTSC/U (American) console. Already sold my PAL for a JAP console lol....

Guys, just give the wiikey guys a little while. The current patch is a beta, and when the release comes out, they'll probably support it right off the bat. I mean, their reputation is on the line here, and it's not exactly a secret that they are also the d2ckey team.

EDIT:Which is worth more on the secondary market: JPN or USA Wii? I know that where I am, JPN is less expensive retail, but I am in an odd place.

a japenese wii dont support english language. It´s simply can´t select it in the settings menu.
The USA SMG release is english only (that´s why pal users need to set their language to english to play it)
So their is no way to play the USA SMG on your JAP Wii. You will need to play the japanese game.

So the wiikey devs were lying then? That's pretty low, to make promises they don't intend to keep, if it is indeed impossible without actually cracking the wii open.

anyone know how much it would cost to get a usa wii in exchange for a jpn one?

or i guess we could wait until the wii is cracked proper, but that might be a while, and i want to play smg..

First when a game like SMG US doesn't work on a JAPAN Wii even if the copy protection is bypassed, it's not Wiikey's fault...

Some games won't run in a different region, not because of the chip but because they are incompatible with the firmware.

No drive chip will ever fix that.

And in my humble opinion, SMG Japan is really easily playable even if you have no clue about the language. Really. You just won't understand what the NPCs tell you, and might miss a little clues but that's not that big a deal.

And last, but I know I might be flamed for this (and that's a shame...) SMG is one of many games that is really worth BUYING.

They can promise the impossible, but if they don't deliver it, then just because it can't be done doesn't mean that they are suddenly not responsible for thier claims..

maybe you should sue the illegal company for false advertising.

Wanting the game to work when the JPN Wii's firmware doesn't have the characters to support the english language isn't wiikey's fault. It's extenuating circumstances imo. They're not going to be able to fix it because they can't.
