Hi guys

I have bought a western digital 640gb hdd for the usb loaders.... This drive has been working great with 84 games on it, but since past week the drive gives me a error ret-1 in the usb loader.

The drive does work on the pc but when i want to use WBSF manager to format it again, it gives me the message
can't format....

Whats going on ???

The harddrive is still working on the pc, but just cant format it to WBSF

Please help

Try reformatting the drive on your pc with any good HD utility (I use EASEUS Partition Manager, it's free), make sure it's formatted to FAT32 and as a Primary drive. Then try reformatting to WBFS with WBFS Manager, and if that doesn't work, plug it into your Wii and try formatting with USB Loader CFG.

I had to go through those steps to get my drive working. If that fails, then it might be an issue with your drive itself.

I thought 500GB partitions were the limit.

Actually I believe it's a 500 game limit due to the current limitations of the WBFS specifications. I've heard of people successfully using 1TB drives.

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.

I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way

It's old but it's the best firmware out for DS stuff
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
it says it only works for the original R4, R4i Gold (r4ids.cn), R4iDSN (r4idsn.com) and Acekard R.P.G.

Just give it a try, but honestly if you have a 3DS you can play DS games without a card just off the internal SD card

Slightly slower loading but a bit more convenient
