Hacking Can't downgrade to 2.1.0 to get OTP

when downgrading my old3ds japan emunand to 2.10 i have error, so i must restore my emunand. can you tell me how to fix this?

Open Decrypt9 -> EmuNAND Option -> EmuNAND Restore ->Enter the Code -> Select Your Backup ->Wait for Install to Finish.

So I am getting the same error, but diff .cia with N3DSXL(U), SafeSysUpdater goes through almost all the .cia in my updates folder and then throws an error on the same file everytime. Its one of the last five or so. The error is

fs.cpp:117: Result: 0xD9004588
failed to write file!
Did you store the update files in '/updates'?

Anybody else? Any ideas?

Hey @naaiil so I had the same error etc I am about 95% sure the guide is wrong and you cant just start at Part 4 of the guide with sysnand 9.0 and CFW, at least not everyone can. What I did was start with a new SD card and then I made a new emunand with EmuNand9 (I suspect that the issue is with gateway emunand at 9.0 firmware) and didnt bother making new backups and it downgraded the first shot no problem. I just finished the downgrade process now. I will keep you posted.

So just to follow up, I dont think its possible to just jump into the guide at https://github.com/Plailect/Guide/wiki/Part-4-(Getting-the-OTP) starting from 9.0 sysnand and CFW/GW emunand. I used the same N3DSXL same SDCard starting the guide from Part 3 using Emunand9 and was succesful. So in conclusion, I am not quite sure what the issue is, but you cant just jump into the guide at Part 4 like it says to, if you're starting from 9.0.x Sysnand and previously installed CFW/GateWay Emunand you should likely start from Part 3 and save yourself many hours of fucking around.

You really don't want to jump steps in the Plailect guide. An important part to note is it has you format your emunand 2x because fragmented files on your nands or sdcards can ruin the process. I just recommend backing up all your saves and starting fresh.

I prefer AuReiNAND, as its more mature with its implementation of a9lh. It's up to you which one you use however.

If you restore the backup of changed emunand, it will remove a9lh and you will be stuck without a9lh.

However, you can restore the changed emunand to an emunand on your SD card (create one with EmuNAND9 if you already removed it), then dump the CTRNAND partition, TWL partitions, and the AGBSAVES partition and restore those to your SysNAND.

No problem! If you have any problems feel free to ask

Just don't ever, ever, inject to the FIRM0/1 partitions, or restore a complete backup of a NAND without a9lh, or you could either brick yourself or end up on 10.7 SysNAND with no a9lh.
