Hello everyone, I have a very annoying problem (~4 days now)
Everytime I try to go to www.minecraft.net I get an error page (server software default)
The server is NOT offline, as I can access it on other computers fine (outside my home-network).
View attachment Under_Construction.htm

I am using Firefox 4.0, but it also displays the error page on Microsoft Internet Explorer 8.
I have cleared my "stuff" at least 2 times since the problem first occurred (I thought it was server-side) with CCleaner (Harddrive cleaning utility). I haven't tweaked any "important" (Windows & such) files, so I have no idea what could've happened.

This same problem is also happening for www.minecraftforum.net.

Well at a guess I would say there's something wrong with your home-network if you can access those 2 site elsewhere

Could it be that you have accidentally 'blocked' those sites ???

Since both Firefox and IE8 don't show them I would guess it could be either your HOST file or your Firewall that's blocking them

Code:
99.xxx.xxx.xxxÂÂminecraft.net
(same IP as above)ÂÂwww.minecraft.net
(same IP as above)ÂÂminecraftforum.net
(same IP as above)ÂÂwww.minecraftforum.net

That'd be my host file without the comments on top.
Should I delete these lines?
(note that "xxx" are numbers, but I have no idea if it's good to show them to everyone)

edit:
Great, it's working again.
Does anyone have an idea how those lines could've gotten there?

edit2:
minecraftforum.net is not working

Well those were definitely wrong

www.minecraft.net starts @ 75.xxx.xxx.xxx
minecraftforum.net / www.minecraftforum.net starts @ 68.xxx.xxx.xxx

HOW they got added/changed - no idea...

The only MAIN culprits I can think of are either Malware (who usually block/divert security software to 'other places' than their own sites) or security software (some security software add 'blocked sites' to the Host file - but usually they have 127.0.0.0 as the address) to prevent virus/malware from 'reporting back'.

Also 99.xxx.xxx.xxx 'seems' like a weird number to choose, but a quick Google seems to point that some companies update can cause IP addresses to be set to that number
