Hacking cannot get games to run on my gateway 3ds

I installed everything on my 4.5 3ds xl and installed bigbluemenu then installed about 6 games
and everything and every game runs smooth.

Today i installed monster hunter 4 on my micro sd with a split 3ds file cause it was 4gb but it booted to a frozen black screen

So i then trimmed the full 4gb file instead of splitting and same thing "black screen"

So finally i got the monster hunter 4 .cia file that other people use and that didnt work for me either. Ive tried everything i can think of so can someone please help?

My 3ds xl is on the old 4.1 firmware and my gateway is on the latest 3.04

my emunand version is 4.1 same as my system firmware and i never bothered updating it because all the games i have tried all worked. So i realized thats probably the problem so i boot into gateway mode and try to update the emunand by going too settings and firmware update and every time i try and update a Message pops up saying a error has occured unable to update
then it restarts the 3ds!! Have tried 10 times , what can i do? And really appreciate the reply thanks
