I've been using the same DVD+RW discs for about 2 years now, maybe overwritten 50-100 times.. work perfectly!

Can I use the backup loader with dvd-rw?

What speeds do you reccommend. tried 4x.

Change my booktype after someone reccomended it.

Now trying 16x. dont expect it to work.

Do I really have to burn at 2.4?

Any DVD+RWs work fine on my console. Probably the best one is Verbatim. Saves me lots of wastage on testing with DVD+Rs.

I'm pretty sure the Wii can read DVD-RWs. I know the GC can't.
My Gamecube can!

I've played many games just using a mini dvd-r and after i played it i burned something else on it
That's technically not a DVD-RW, though.

I never tried RWs, but I know DVD-Rs work almost perfectly, with a little slowdown.

You realize you just responded to something that was posted 2 YEARS AGO, right?

OT (well, not really the topic but the question that is for some reason posted in a 2 year old thread): Why would you really ever need to use DVD-RW's in this day and age? From what I remember about them they do not usually play at the same speed or quality as DVD-Rs, plus you could just use a USB loader and NEVER need to burn a DVD again, as opposed to reburning your RW's when the Wii will not read them lol...
