I have an HDMI port on my lap and I'm wondering if I can directly connect my PS3 to my laptop and play from there. I also need to know what software or options within windows I need to run/execute.

Right now I have tried direct connecting the HDMI from my PS3 to my laptop but couldn't get no display. So I'm coming here for the expertise.

I have a HP 20002b16nr here is the link https://shop.aafes.com/shop/Product.aspx?dept_id=7783&PFID=X241B&gid=&AskReturn=search
    Warning: Spoilers inside!

The HDMI is video-out, not in.

It's not going to happen without extra hardware.

It could be possible with a video capture device, but haven't tried it myself so can't really give better suggestions. I'd get a cheaper 27" or 32" TV if you have a few hundred dollars extra and the space for the TV.
