Same situation. It's definitely possible, but difficult to do and would require patching the game and how it accesses IOS slots (and potentially writing a new cIOS for it)

Well use a HDD, backup your games and make the usb loader patch the games for you. :-P

Works by essentially letting you plug your GC controller into a remote and using it as a classic controller (pro).

There are also gamecube styled classic controllers recently released by Hori and PDP, but again, those plug into remotes.
