What Im trying to ask is, is it possible to use fbi to uninstall the file that blocks flashcarts

People have installed older versions of the DS whitelist to enable blocked carts, yes.
Searching (or perhaps another kind poster) will point you to the specifics.

FYI uninstalling DS Cart White list will brick TWL. So you should be sure to install an older version and not just leave it uninstalled. ;)

I installed the one from v2.0 FW. (earliest available version unless someone with a 1.0 launch console with a nand mod manages to get 1.0 to boot on emunand and dump it. :P )

are you sure about that? as the old whitelist will be "broken" and that is why old ds flashcarts starts,

but for the topic starter: just use the post from dsrules

Yes I'm sure. I tested that using FBI. I uninstalled DS Cart White list and tried to use a legit game. Got the black screen error telling me to power off anytime I tried to boot a DS game. This happened even with Mario 64 DS thus TWL is effectively bricked if the white list is left uninstalled. It worked fine afterwords the moment I reinstalled one.

Odd that it works with a broken one, but if it's not installed at all, TWL doesn't like that. ;)

I had a similar situation like this. I tried once to delete 10302 (Word filter) but then whenever I tried to type ANY WORD into a wordbox, the 3DS froze for a couple of seconds then said that I couldn't use that word. It's kinda weird.

That's interesting, I guess TWL_FIRM just checks it's installed, but doesn't check it's validity

What would someone want to uninstall it? (this is a serious question).

Except maybe if it's to try to install an older (more compatible) version?

What do you mean with "new updates"? People that created the "whitelist" said it couldn't be updated by Nintendo, even with a new firmware update.

This "whitelist" works fine on my N3DS 9.0 personally. Gateway Blue Card with NDS roms works fine on it.

Edit : Oh, my bad, I misread it. I thought you were asking about how remove the .cia file which enable ds flashcard again (that's why I was wondering why someone would want to remove it).

Well, then, no need to uninstall anything. Just find and install a .cia file to enable then again. More info here : https://gbatemp.net/threads/release-use-blocked-ds-flashcards-on-3ds-probably-n3ds-too.37671

If it can help, the file is called "flashcardtimewarp.cia" and once it's installed on sysnand, all the ds flashcard that were working on 4.x firmware will work again on your firmware (even on 9.x).

So, you can't fix them.

I don't even think dumping an old version would be possible, as you need, at least, 4.x firmware to run the gateway, so how to dump a file from 1.x or 2.x firmware if you can't run tools on it?

But Blue Card works pretty fine (it run with wood firmware if I'm right) so I bet it should be enough to play DS roms.

There is something called 3DNUS :> But you can't just replace it with the old version, as the TWL_FIRM has version information in it, and if you install it on, say, 9.2 then it will be super confused and generally just not work.

Someone said 3DNUS didn't had very old firmwares like 1.0. Didn't checked but dunno why it would be wrong.

And I really think it don't really worth messing a lot about if when some ds flashcards already works (especially one that all Gateway owners have), but well.

It doesn't have 1.0 obviously, but it does have 2.0 which would be the earliest version you could download.

Using cearp's method breaks the whitelist, while using FBI to delete and then reinstall an older version is effectively downgrading it.

Both methods achieve the same result, using FBI is the right way to do it, but cearp's method was simply the only option up until now.

sure, but still, my idea of maxing the version is still nice, because you won't ever have to worry about it again. the title never can be updated. if you simply install the old one, and then you perform a fw update, you will lose it.
there is no reason to uninstall it -- until nintendo shows signs of punishing us for hacking our system.

@K3Nv2 Snow Day is pretty fun. My only bitch would be the camera controls, when you move around, say down, you have to move the right stick left or right to get camera to turn and get your view, other than that I like it so far.

From what people say pvp isn't even worth it

I just been playing offline, and they give you a few bots here n there on your team to help battle. I don't think it's as funny as the other games tho, more battle oriented than humor, which kinda sucks, but I'm still early in it
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@BigOnYa, doesnt the game have a campaign mode?
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Yea, and co-op, but you can also start a pvp session and battle just with friends. You get special skill cards (powers) the more you play. And higher value cards, but you can only enable so many cards at a time.

Toilet paper is considered the money, you collect and buy stuff with TP, kinda funny. Graphics are def better than the other games tho, I think they used Unity 5 engine.

@Xdqwerty, Many of them did before colour television was common.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Likely because black and white TV was in-expensive.

It certainly wasn't inexpensive it cost the same as a new car back then

How much did a 1965 color TV cost?

For example, a 21-inch (diagonal) GE color television in 1965 had an advertised price of $499, which is equal to $4,724 in today's dollars, according to the federal government's inflation calculator.
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@K3Nv2, take into consideration how economy was back then

Yeah that's why they listed inflation rates
